Fankhauser, Nelsen & Werts, P.C. was organized on October 1, 1997. The professional corporation was formed as a result of the merger of two established law firms in Southeast Nebraska; the Fankhauser & Werts Law Office of Humboldt, NE and the Nelsen Law Office of Nebraska City, NE. After the merger, FN&W added a third office in Auburn, NE.
The firm’s aim is to provide the same level of expertise and specialization of larger urban firms while preserving local convenience and rural/small town values and relationships. FN&W accomplishes this goal by having each attorney devote a substantial amount of time to certain primary areas of practice.
While each attorney concentrates his practice in designated areas, the firm as a whole is best described as general practice law firm that is able to handle most legal matters. In the event that a client’s matter is outside the expertise of the FN&W attorneys, every effort will be made by FN&W to refer the client to an attorney with another firm that is competent to handle the matter.
Many times, arrangements can be made to meet with the other lawyer at the FN&W offices so as to maintain the local convenience.
Fankhauser, Nelsen & Werts, P.C. has achieved the highest possible rating (AV*) from Martindale-Hubbell. All firm attorneys regularly attend continuing legal education courses to remain updated on changes in the law and to learn new practice techniques that might benefit the clients.
